History: Boston Rovers were a United States soccer team that competed in the United Soccer Association league in 1967. The team was based in Lynn, Massachusetts and played their home games at the Manning Bowl. The USA league was actually made up of visiting club teams from Europe and South America. The Boston Rovers were made up of players from League of Ireland side Shamrock Rovers, plus some guests.
Chicago Mustangs

History: The Chicago Mustangs were an American professional soccer team based out of Chicago, Illinois that was a charter member of the United Soccer Association (USA) in 1967. The league was made up of teams imported whole from foreign leagues. The Chicago club was actually Cagliari Calcio from Italy. The franchise was owned by Arthur Allyn Jr., the owner of Artnell Corporation and Major League Baseball's Chicago White Sox.
Following the 1967 season, the USA merged with the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) to form the North American Soccer League (NASL) with the teams from the former USA having to create their rosters from scratch. After 1968, the Mustangs became a semi-pro team and eventually became a B-Team/feeder team to the Chicago Sting.
Cleveland Stokers

History: The Cleveland Stokers were a soccer team based out of Cleveland, Ohio that played in the United Soccer Association during 1967 and the North American Soccer League in 1968.
The United league was made up of teams imported from foreign leagues. The 1967 Cleveland roster was actually Stoke City F.C. from England. Following the 1967 season, the USA merged with the National Professional Soccer League to form the North American Soccer League with the teams from the former USA having to create their rosters from scratch.
The franchise was originally acquired by Cleveland Indians baseball club principal owner Vernon Stouffer and club president Gabe Paul in August 1966. They sold the Stokers to a group led by Cleveland attorney Howard Metzenbaum and business partner, Alva "Ted" Bonda, the first week of January 1968.
Dallas Tornado

History: Dallas Tornado were a soccer team based in Dallas that played in the NASL. The franchise was one of the original clubs that played in the United Soccer Association, one of the two precursors to the NASL, in 1967. In fact the USA was made up of international clubs playing in U.S. cities as American teams. The team that played as the Dallas Tornado were Dundee United of the Scottish Football League.

Detroit Cougars

History: The Detroit Cougars were a soccer team based out of Detroit, Michigan that played in the United Soccer Association. The league was made up of teams imported from foreign leagues. The Detroit club consisted of players from Glentoran F.C. of the (Northern) Irish Football League.
History: The Houston Stars were a soccer team based out of Houston, Texas that played in the United Soccer Association. The league was made up of teams imported from foreign leagues. The Houston club was actually Bangu Atlético Clube from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. They were owned by Roy Hofeinz, owner of the Houston Astros and played their home matches at the Astrodome, making them the first ever soccer team to play its matches indoors.
Los Angeles Wolves

History: Los Angeles Wolves are a former United States professional soccer team, owned by Jack Kent Cooke, that played for two seasons during the 1960s. In 1967 they played in the United Soccer Association, finishing as champions, and in 1968 they were founding members of the North American Soccer League.

New York Skyliners

History: The New York Skyliners were a soccer team based out of New York, New York that played in the United Soccer Association. The league was made up of teams imported from foreign leagues. The New York club was actually the C.A. Cerro from Montevideo, Uruguay. The team was owned by Madison Square Garden, owners of the New York Rangers and New York Knicks.
Following the 1967 season, the USA merged with the National Professional Soccer League to form the North American Soccer League with the teams from the former USA having to create their rosters from scratch. The Skyliners folded to make room for the New York Generals.
San Francisco Golden Gate Gales

History: The San Francisco Golden Gate Gales was a soccer team based out of San Francisco, California, USA, that played in the United Soccer Association. The league was made up of teams imported from foreign leagues. The San Francisco club was actually the ADO Den Haag from The Hague in the Netherlands.
Following the 1967 season, the USA merged with the National Professional Soccer League to form the North American Soccer League with the teams from the former USA having to create their rosters from scratch. The Gales closed their franchise to yield to the Oakland Clippers and the owners bought a controlling interest in the Vancouver Royals.
Toronto City

History: Toronto City is a former Canadian football (soccer) team based in Toronto. Between 1961 and 1967, teams using this name competed in both the Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League and the United Soccer Association.
In 1961, along with industrialist Larry Myslivec and journalist Ed Fitken, Steve Stavro, a Macedonian Canadian businessman formed the Toronto City Soccer Club which played in the newly created Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League. In January 1966 Stavro fell out with the league administrators and withdrew the team from the league.
In 1966 Stavro helped form the United Soccer Association and entered a team called Toronto City in the new league.
Vancouver Royal Canadians

History: The Vancouver Royal Canadians were a soccer team based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada that played in the United Soccer Association. The league was made up of teams imported from foreign leagues. The Vancouver club was actually Sunderland A.F.C. of English Football League.
Following the 1967 season, the USA merged with the National Professional Soccer League to form the North American Soccer League with the teams from the former USA having to create their rosters from scratch. The San Francisco Golden Gate Gales franchise folded and their owners bought a controlling interest in the Royal Canadians renaming them the Vancouver Royals.
Washington Whips

History: The Washington Whips were a soccer team based in Washington, D.C. that played in the United Soccer Association. The league was made up of teams imported from foreign leagues. The Washington club was actually Aberdeen F.C. from Scotland.
Following the 1967 season, the USA merged with the National Professional Soccer League to form the North American Soccer League with the teams from the former USA having to create their rosters from scratch. The team's owner was Earl Foreman, later owner of the Virginia Squires of the American Basketball Association and president of the original Major Indoor Soccer League.
