History:
Clube Atlético Mineiro was founded on March 25, 1908 by 22 middle-class boys from Belo Horizonte. The boys decided that the club's name would be Athletico Mineiro Foot Ball Club, and the kit would be a white shirt with a green horizontal strip on the chest. Soon after, they decided to change the kit to the black/white stripped shirt which is used nowadays.

On July 1, 1894, the Club de Regatas Botafogo, a rowing club, was founded. The name was meant to evoke neighbourhood where the club was. The colours of the club were black and white, and its symbol the Lone Star, or the "Estrela D'alva", the first star to appear on the sky (not really a star , but the planet Venus).

History:
On September 1, 1910, a group of labourers in the neighborhood of Bom Retiro decided to create their own club. Their idea was to found a football team in which anyone could display his abilities in the sport, since back then, in the beginning of the 20th century, football in Brazil was considered to be an elitist sport, played mainly by British descendants and people who worked for British companies.

History:
Cruzeiro was born off a political administrative crisis at Yale, one of the first sporting clubs of Belo Horizonte, a city where already some Italian immigrants militated. The Italians in Belo Horizonte, wanted to follow the example of the Italians in São Paulo, who had established a football club, the Palestra Itália, now Palmeiras. The people of Belo Horizonte wanted the Italian colony in Minas Gerais to have its own club as well.

History:
Oscar Cox introduced football to Rio. He played in Switzerland during his studies in Lausanne. When he returned to Rio, aged 22, he gathered a group of men who also wanted to play this yet relatively unknown sport. After playing some matches in Rio and in São Paulo, they decided to found a club. The foundation meeting took place on 21 July 1902.

History:
On September 7, 1903, Sport Club Rio Grande, the first Brazilian football team, played an exhibition match in Porto Alegre. An entrepreneur from Sorocaba, São Paulo called Cândido Dias, watched the match and became enchanted by the sport. During the match, the ball deflated. As the owner of the only football of Porto Alegre, he lent his ball to the players, and the match was resumed. After the match, he learned from the players instructions about football and how to found a club. On September 15, 1903, 32 people, including Cândido Dias, met at Salão Grau restaurant and founded the club.

History:
Early in the 20th Century, three young men from São Paulo who had recently arrived in Porto Alegre wanted to play soccer. But were not admitted at any club in town, because they were newcomers in Porto Alegre so they decided to found their own club. On the night of Monday, April 4, 1909, in the basement of a house, and driven by three men (brothers Henrique and José Poppe Leão, and Luiz Madeira Poppe) 40 young men (twice more people than expected to attend the reunion) founded Sport Club Internacional.

History:
After the end of the War of Canudos, the rowing increased its popularity among the Recife people, being disputed many competitions along the Capibaribe river. One rowing group, commanded by João Victor da Cruz Alfarra, prepared a boat race to entertain General Artur Costa and his soldiers, who fought in the war. The boat race was disputed on November 21, 1897. After this competition, a year later, another rowing group was formed, by warehouse employees at Duque de Caxias and Rangel streets. They founded a club called Clube dos Pimpões. The other group members, who organized the rowing competition in the previous year, became encouraged, and in 1898 they played against Club dos Pimpões several times at Casa dos Banhos.

On April 7, 1901 these two rival groups of rowing players joined and founded Clube Náutico Capibaribe.

Only since 1905 Náutico started its football department, and the first team was set in the following year, and was formed by Englishmen, but they played only on Sundays at Campo de Santana or at Derby prairie. Náutico were known as "the club of the riches" as in its start it didn't allow Negros to play in its football team.

History:
In the late 19th century rowing was the most important sport in Rio de Janeiro. At this time, four young men - Henrique Ferreira Monteiro, Luís Antônio Rodrigues, José Alexandre d `Avelar Rodrigues and Manuel Teixeira de Souza Júnior - who did not want to travel to Niterói to row with the boats of Gragoatá Club decided to found a rowing club.
On August 21, 1898 in a room of the Sons of Talma Dramatic Society, with 62 members (mostly Portuguese immigrants), the Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama (Vasco da Gama Rowing Club) was born.
Inspired by the celebrations of the 4th centenary of the first sail from Europe to India, the founders chose the name of the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama to baptise the new club.
